Lt Hughes-Onslow and Hon. Eileen Crofton

The Times September 24th 1918

The marriage of Lieutenant Geoffrey Henry Hughes-Onslow, D.S.C. R.N. of Alton Albany, Girvan, Ayrshire, only son of the late Major Arthur Hughes-Onslow. Royal Hussars and of Mrs. Hughes-Onslow of Braunston, Oakham and the Hon. Eileen Mabel Lowther Crofton, only daughter of Lord and Lady Crofton, of Mote Park, Roscommon took place yesterday, at St Saviour’s Church, Walton Street Chelsea, the vicar, the Rev. George Edmundson officiating.

The bide, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of ninon with a Iioniton lace tunic: a long Brussels lace veil formed the train over chiffon.  She had a tulle veil over her face, and carried a sheaf of white chrysanthemums and autumn foliage. In attendance were two bridesmaid – Miss Dorothy Kathleen Hughes-Onslow, sister to the bridegroom and Miss Kathleen Paget – who had dresses of dove grey crepe de Chine, white tulle veils with wreaths of coloured flowers and gold leaves on pink ribbons and carried small pink bag purses.  The bridegroom’s gifts were long necklaces of pink beads.  The best man was Lieutenant R.A. Slingsby Bethell, R.N.

Mrs Reginald Chichester, Captain and Mrs Ernest Whitehead, Captain F.A. Whitehead, R.N. and Mrs Whitehead, Mr Alan Whitehead, Mrs H.W. Crofton and Miss Crofton, Viscountess Charlemont, Lady Ellenborough, Miss Paddon, Mrs. AtholChichester, Colonel and Mrs Alan Chichester, Colonel Ferd Gore and several men from the bridegroom’s ship.
