My Great Grandfather , Edward Nobel Price lived at Villa Frere for many years. During his time there he wrote a book titled -“A Byzantine Charm” A historical romance of the Greek Revolution, 1821. The basis of this book appears to be the story of Hookam Frere taking in a girl from Greece who faced certain death by the Turks. This link to a pdf file shows the beginning of the book. It may be of interest to some. At some stage I would like to get the whole book on my site but for now this will duo.
