Major R. Seaburne May  to Miss Daisy Drake

Miss daisy Drake, daughter of Mr J.R. Crake of Gadebridge Park, Hemel Hempstead, was married to Major R Seaburne May, son of Vice-Admiral Sir William May K.C.B.. of 58 Onslow Gardens, at Parish Church, Hemel Hempstead, on December 20th.  The officiating clergyman was the Rev. Sherbrooke Banks (rector of St Martin’s Ipswich), assisted by the Rev. Lawrence Gee, and the service was fully choral.  The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a loverly Empire gown of mousse line satin, chifon, and duchesse lace, with train from each shoulder of two old real lace veils.  She was attended by eight bridesmaids, varying in age from five to sixteen, who made a charming group in Josephine frocks of ivory satin.  Major McHahon was the best man.  Sixteen N.C.O.’s and the men of the Royal Fusiliers formed a guard of honour.  After the ceremony  a reception was held at Gadebridge Park by Mr and Mrs Drake, and later in the day the bride and bridegroom left for Cleeve, Ivybridge, Devon, for their honeymoon, the bride going away in a blu e faced cloth skirt and braided coat, with a waistcoat of tan cloth hand embroidered.  Those present at the wedding and subsequent reception included Sir Collingwood and Lady Hughes, the Dowager Lady Hughes, Admiral Sir William and Lady May, Admiral and Mrs Eardley Wilmot, General and Mrs Donald, Sir John and Lady Evans and the Right Hon. T.F. and Mrs Halsey.  The presents numbered over three hundred, including valuable jewels, gold, silver and public presentations from the tradespeople of hemp Hempstead and estate employees.

The marriage of Miss Daisy Drake, only daughter of Mr J.R. Crake of Gadebridge Park, Hemel Hempstead, to Brevet-Major Seaburne R. May will take place at the Hemal Hempstead Parish Church on Thursday next at two o’clock.  A special train will leave Euston Station at 12:35 p.m. arriving Boxmoor at 1:20 p.m., and returning from Boxmoor at 5:5 p.m., arriving at Euston at 5:45 p.m.

Seymour Clark, Brevet-Major Reginald Seaburne My, eldest son of Vice-Admiral Sir William May K.C.B., K.C.V.O., and Lady May, to Marguerite Geraldine Ramsay (Daisy) Drake, only daughter of John Ramsay and Mrs Drake, of 67 Cadogan Gardens and Gadebridge Park, Hemel Hempstead.
