DEATH OF LORD CROFTON. The death of Lord Crofton, which occurred Sunday at the residence of Lord Clonbrock, Ahascragh, County Galway, to whom he was related by marriage, removes a well known figure from the Irish Peerage. Deceased was the third baron, his peerage being a creation of 1797. He was born in 1834. and succeeded his father 1869. He  had been a Representative Peer of Ireland since 1873. Lady Crofton, the wife of the second baronet, was given the title of Baroness Crofton. of tho Mote. County Roscommon, in the Peerage of Ireland, with remainder to the heirs male of her late husband. Though never taking a prominent part in political or public affairs, the late Lord Crofton was a staunch Protestant and Unionist, and took a keen personal interest in everything appertaining to the welfare of the country. His estate comprised about 11,000 acres, and the relations with his tenants were always most amicable. He is succeeded bis nephew Captain Arthur Crofton, who was born in 1866, and – at present serving with the Ist Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers.

DEATH OE LORD CROFTON.

PEER WHO COMPOSED FAMOUS HYMN.

The death is announced of Edward Henry Churchill, third Baron Crofton, representative Peer of Ireland and very large landowner in Co. Roscommon. The death occurred at the residence Lord Clonbrock, of Ahascragh, Ireland, whom Lord Crofton was related by marriage. Lord Crofton was seventy seven years of age, and is succeeded his nephew, Captain Arthur Crofton. Lord Crofton was the composer of much organ music and number of sacred songs, including the well-known wedding hymn “O Perfect Love.”
