Lady Crofton, the wife of the second baronet, was given the title of Baroness Crofton, of The Mote, County Roscommon, in the Peerage of Ireland, with remainder to the heirs male  her late husband.  The late Lord Crofton was a staunch Protestant, and a Unionist. He did not take a very prominent part in politics or public affairs, but any measure which tended to promote the best interests of the country received his practical support. He owned an  extensive estate, composing about 11,000 acres, and  the best good relationship always existed between him and his tenants, in whose  welfare he ever manifested a deep interest.
