The Late Mr Maurice Edward Rayner Great regret has been expressed in St. Asaph and other parts of North Wales at the death of Mr Maurice Edward Rayner late of the Rifle Brigade who passed away at Bryn Asaph, Asaph at the early age of twenty six, Mr. Rayner, who was the youngest son of the late Mr. Edward William Rayner, of Liverpool, was seized with pneumonia and passed away after but a few days’ illness. Testimony to the esteem in which young Mr Rayner was held was indicated by great gathering that assembled in the Trefnant Churchyard to pay final tribute of affection and respect to their departed friend. The chief mourners were Mrs E.W. Rayner; Mr Seaburne Rayner and Mr Bryan Rayner (Royal Fusiliers) brothers ; Mr and Mrs Loraine, Mr and Mrs Mr. Rayner Lady May, Major R. Seaburne May (Royal Fusilers) Mr. John May, and Colonel Brombead, C.B. Among others present were Colonel, Mrs and Miss Howard, Mr and Mrs Griffiths, Mayor Morley Saunders the Rev Thomasd Medcalfe, the Rev aan Mrs Williams, MrTerance Cole: Mr C.W. Wright, Mr G H Clarksole, Dr. Heap, Mr Charles Fosbery, Mr. Walthall, Mr Manning, the servants at Bryn Asaph, Nurse Kirkman Nurse Roberts, and many others .The officiating clergy were the Rev. P. Williams, vicar of Trefnant and the Rev Herbert Evans (St Asaph). The bearers who carried Mr Rayner to his last resting place were Messrs. E Strongwood, (Cefn) W.Fletcher (Rodelwyddan), W. Tomlinson (St Asaph), E. Edwards (Wygfair Gardens) and Fisher (Royal Fusiliers) and Mr Wilson (Cefn) .
