Obituary for Sister Margaret O’Keefe (St.Leo), IBVM


Died peacefully at Loretto Infirmary, Toronto on Monday, April 12 2010. She was in her 65th year as a member of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Loretto Sisters). Daughter of the late Francis John o’Keefe and Bridget Helen Cummins. Predeceased by brother James O’Keefe, husband of Catherine and Irene, sisters Miriam O’Keefe and Noreen O’Keefe, brother-in-law Patrick McGouran. Survived by brother Leo (Leonara) O’Keefe, Bernard (Elizabeth) O’Keefe and sister Elizabeth (Betty) McGouran, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Sister Margaret taught in Toronto, Niagara Falls, Fort Erie, Port Colborne, Regina and Estavan, both elementary and secondary level. She served in leadership on the local and general level. Following retirement she did Parish Ministry at Our Lady of Sorrows, Toronto and Marquis and Central Butte, Saskatchewan. Friends may call at Loretto Abbey, 101 Mason Blvd., on Thursday April 15th, 2010 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. on then same day. Mass of Christian Burial at Loretto Abbey Chapel on Friday. April 16, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery. .
