Hon. Eileen Crofton – Lieut. Hughes-Onslow

Roscommon Messenger – Saturday 12 October 1918

Marriage of Lieutenant Hughes-Onslow the Hon Eileen Crofton.

The marriage the Hon. Eilcen Crofton, only daughter of Lord Crofton, Mote Park, Roscommon, to Lieutenant G Hughes-Onslow, DSC, Royal Navy, of Alton, Albany, Girvan, Ayrshire, only son of Major Arthur Hughes-Onslow, the Hussars, took place at St Saviour’s, Walton Street, London, on September, 23rd. The bride, who was given away by her father, was dressed a gown of ninon, draped with Brussell’s lace (a shawl) given to her by her great-aunt, the Lady Clonbrock, and was a present to her on her marriage to Lord Clonbrock from the Duchess of Richmond. The bridal veil (lent by Lady Clonbrock—and worn at her own wedding and also the wedding of daughter, the Hon Lady Mahon) for the occasion, was also of Brussell’s lace, and was arranged to form a coronet on the head and sweep down to the end of the train. She carried a sheaf of chrysanthemums and autumn foliage.
